This mixed-use design integrates commercial and residential floor space into the same structure. The site is a high-profile corner site on the approach into Rugby town centre.
The design was constrained by the site’s location adjacent to Sow Brook (which suffers from flooding) and the mature trees surrounding the site. Residential development has been designed as a ‘buffer’ between existing residential properties to the rear and a more commercial frontage onto Bilton Road.
The three-storey development of offices nestles into the mature trees on the Bilton Road frontage. Its contemporary form creates an attractive ‘gateway building’ utilising external areas of decking spanning above the flood plain to create additional usable amenity space whilst adding an attractive feature into the landscape.
