The Dell | Princethorpe

This project consisted of the negotiation of a substantial replacement dwelling for what was a dilapidated bungalow structure clinging to the edge of a site known as The Dell in Princethorpe near Rugby.

The key design solution in this project was to secure vehicle access from the main Stretton to Princethorpe road and a 5m retaining wall of gabions provided the platform for vehicular access and the 3 storey partially subterranean property was designed in a contemporary form including a bridged access over the stream and taking into account complex flood risk analysis.

Robust materials including blue bricks, slate walling and stone gabions contrast against the extensive areas of glazing and softness of the cedar boarding creating a contemporary contextual waterside property.
